Hybrid clouds | Set up and connect Android devices

1. Turn on the device.

2. On the Welcome screen, tap Start.

3. On the legal items screen, select I have read and agree to all of the above.

4. Click Next.

5. On the Choose a Wi-Fi network screen, tap the appropriate Wi-Fi network.

6. On the selected network screen, do the following:

   1. Enter the appropriate network credentials and tap Advanced.

   2. Tap MAC address type and select Phone MAC.

   3. Tap Connect.

7. Back on the Choose a Wi-Fi network screen, tap Next. The device will load for a moment.

8. On the Copy apps & data screen, tap Don't copy. The device will load for a moment.

9. On the Google Sign in screen, tap Skip. Then confirm by tapping Skip again.

10. On the Google Services screen, tap More.

11. On the Device maintenance screen, tap Accept.

12. On the Protect your phone screen, tap Skip. Then confirm by tapping Skip again.

13. On the Samsung account screen, click Skip.

14. On the You're all set up! screen, click Finish.

1. On the device home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen to bring up options.

2. Tap the gear icon at the top right to open the Settings screen.

3. On the Settings screen, tap Display.

4. Under Display settings, confirm or set the following:

   • Dark, if available

   • Minimum Brightness (slider is on the left)

   • Adaptive brightness turned off

5. Set the screen resolution:

   1. Tap Screen resolution.

   2. Under Screen resolution, select the highest possible option (usually WQHD+) and tap Apply.

   3. Tap the back button.

6. Back on the Display screen, tap Screen timeout.

7. On the Screen timeout screen, select the longest time available to prevent the device from going into error due to inaction on the screen.

8. Tap the back button twice to return to the main Settings screen.

1. On the Settings screen, scroll down and tap About phone.

2. Under About phone, tap Software information.

3. Under Software information, find the Build number and tap it 7-10 times in quick succession. You should get a message saying "Developer Options has been enabled".

4. Tap the back button twice to return to the main Settings screen.

5. On the Settings screen, scroll down and tap Developer options.

6. Under Developer options, do the following:

   • Turn on Stay awake.

   • Turn off Auto update system.

   • Turn on USB debugging.

     When prompted for confirmation, tap OK.

   • Turn off Verify apps over USB.

   • Set USB parameters:

     1. Tap Default USB configuration.

     2. Under USB settings, select Transferring files. If this option is not available, select MTP.

     3. Click the back button to return to the Developer options screen.

   • Turn off the following settings:

     • Window animation scale

     • Transition animation scale

     • Animation duration scale

7. Tap the home button to return to the home screen.

1. When the Android device is set up and ready to go, get a USB-A to USB-C/USB-Micro-B cable.

2. Plug the USB-A connector into the HSS and the other end with the appropriate connect into the device.

3. On the device, wait until you see the RSA popup window. Then select Always allow debugging from this computer and tap OK.

4. Confirm any other popup windows.

1. In the Perfecto desktop app, go to System Administration > Devices tab.

   On the Devices tab, the device should show up with a status of Ready to connect.

   

2. If there are too many devices to show on a single screen, use the search box to filter for devices in the Ready to connect state.

   

3. If, after 5-10 minutes, the device does not show up in the cloud, do the following:

   1. Unplug the device, restart it, and check all settings.

   2. Plug the device back in and wait another 5-10 minutes.

   3. If the device still does not show up, replace the cable.

   4. If replacing the cable does not help, restart the HSS.

1. On the Devices tab, select the device you want to connect.

   

2. At the top left, click Connect.

   

3. In the Connection wizard, do the following:

   1. In the Connect Device Step 1 panel, make sure the selections are correct. Pay special attention to the Distributor. This is the template for the device. General is the correct template for most devices. If the device is not able to connect with the General template, use the Screencopy template, as shown in the image.

      

   2. Click Next.

      While the next panel is loading, the Next button will be unavailable.

   3. In the Connect Device Step 2 panel, click Next.

      

      It can take up to 8 minutes for a device to connect. Do not exit or cancel the wizard during this time.

   4. In the Connect Device Step 3 panel, accept the default settings and click Next.

      

   5. In the Connect Device Step 4 panel, select the roles you would like assigned to the device, as follows:

      

      1. Under Existing Roles, select the desired role or roles, and then click the right arrow to move the selected role or roles to the Device Roles list on the right. To remove a role from the device, select that role in the Device Roles list and use the left arrow to move it to the Existing Roles list on the left.

      2. Click Next.

      The Connect Device Step 5 panel opens, showing a preview of the device, indicating that the device is connected and accessible from the cloud.

      

   6. Click Finish to complete the connection.

The device now shows a status of Connected. It should be ready to use.
